Insight-oriented psychotherapy
A grounded space for self-understanding, healing, and growth.
Welcome
My name is Cortney Sera, MA, LLMSW, and I’m a psychotherapist with graduate training spanning clinical social work and clinical psychology.
My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, integrative, and insight-oriented. I primarily work with adults and young adults, and I also see older adolescents ages 16 and up. I support clients navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma-related concerns, neurodivergence, identity questions, relationship stress, life transitions, and a desire for greater self-understanding.
In therapy, I aim to create a steady, nonjudgmental space where clients can make sense of what they are experiencing, recognize patterns that may no longer feel helpful, build practical coping skills, and move toward meaningful change at their own pace. This may include addressing immediate concerns while also developing a deeper understanding of emotions, relationships, experiences, and needs.
I draw from psychodynamic, CBT-informed, DBT-informed, interpersonal, supportive, and mindfulness-based approaches based on each client’s needs, goals, and preferences. I have received EMDRIA-approved training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, a structured approach for processing distressing experiences. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming, neurodiversity-affirming, and sex-positive, and I approach each person with curiosity, care, and respect for their values and lived experience.
I offer in-person therapy at Huffmaster Therapy Collective in Bingham Farms and virtual therapy for clients located throughout Michigan. I am currently accepting new clients.
